Mindy Reid joins Marion Chamber's executive board
MARION -- The Marion Chamber of Commerce has added Mindy Reid with Banterra Bank to the Chamber's Executive Board. Reid has served on the Marion Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors since 2016. She is a Banking Center Manager at Banterra and currently oversees two branches in the Marion market.

Area officials have broken ground Tuesday on a 40,000-square-foot medical clinic and teaching facility, to be built adjacent to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Practical experience pays off Maison de Mings owner credits SIC for successful start
Many people are proud to call Southeastern Illinois College the launchpad for their careers. Amy Mings is such a person. Mings, a successful businessperson and Galatia native, began her education at SIC in 2002 as part of the summer honors program. From 2004 to 2006 she attended as a full-time student before transferring and beginning her career in the business world.

Olson named new CEO of Carbondale Chamber of Commerce
The Carbondale Chamber of Commerce has hired Jennifer Olson as its new president. Olson has been serving as the interim director since March 19. Prior to joining the chamber, she had a 15-year career in commercial banking. Before banking, she spent five years as marketing director for University Mall.

Three recently-opened business were officially welcomed into Chester May 17 by the Chester First Club. Ribbon cuttings were held at Salon Serenity, 1206 Swanwick St., Muddy River Coffee Shop, 106 W. Stacey St. and Golden Key Reality, 1205 Swanwick St.

Heartland Regional opens 'hybrid' clinic in Marion
MARION -- A unique hybrid medical clinic was showcased for public viewing late Tuesday afternoon at an open house at 2700 W. DeYoung St. The clinic is part of a new venture by Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Facility Director Brandi Meyer explained its origin.

New Don Taco recognized as "Bright Spot" in Carbondale
When Don Taco moved down the street to its new location at 780 E. Grand Ave., it brought new color and vibrancy to the area's streetscape. The Keep Carbondale Beautiful Board gave the business this month's Bright Spot award. In addition to the color, nominators also commented on the beautiful stonework, starting at the base of the sign, on walls, and continued indoors to great effect. Manager Victor Paneda said the idea was to be welcoming and inviting. That's also the case with the bike rack, located right by the front door.

City of Chester honors Hospital Week
Memorial Hospital of Chester celebrates National Hospital Week, May 6-12. Chester Mayor Tom Page commemorated the week by signing a Mayoral Proclamation declaring that all residents of Chester celebrate the women and men who strive to improve our health care system. This week honors the nation's largest profession; health care professionals. The week's theme is "Caring is our Calling." in celebration of the ways in which hospitals, health systems, and women and men who support the health and well-being of their communities through dedication and care from the heart, create a platform of advocating for high-quality patient care and to map out the way to improve our health care system.
