The following incidents were obtained from the Benton Police Department. Note that arrests, charges and citations are allegations only, not findings of guilt.

April 27

• Police were dispatched to the Benton Public Square in reference to a report of children left unattended in a vehicle. Upon investigating, police arrested Megan E. Scarlett, 21, of Cowden on a charge of child endangerment. Scarlett was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

• Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Buchanan and Lawrence streets. Upon investigating, police arrested Justin L. Wagoner, 20, of Benton on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Wagoner was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

April 29

• Police arrested Kaylee M. Porter, 21, of Benton on an active Franklin County warrant for failure to appear. Porter also was charged with obstructing a peace officer. Porter was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

April 30

• Police were informed of unsupervised children on the roadway in the 700 block of East Bond Street. Upon investigating, police arrested James Patton, 32, of Benton on a charge of child endangerment. Patton was transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.

May 2

• Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Fairland Street in reference to disturbance complaint. Upon investigating, police arrested Joshua C. Sims, 25, and Patrick S. McClerren, 23, both of Benton, on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Sims also had an active Franklin County warrant for failure to appear. Both Sims and McClerren were transported to the Franklin County Jail for further processing.
