An ex-correctional officer from Du Quoin was sentenced Monday to four months in federal prison for violating the civil rights of an inmate at the Pinckneyville Correctional Center last year.

Saline County Judge Walden Morris issued an arrest warrant Monday for a man who shot his neighbor's dog in the head while he was riding his horse-drawn buggy past the neighbor's property.
