A Thompsonville man suspected in a series of early-morning burglaries allegedly led police on a chase riding a mountain bike before he was apprehended.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested James D. Muck, 23, after first initiating an investigation around 2:23 a.m. June 2 into a suspicious person on foot in Thompsonville. Following several recently reported vehicle burglaries, it was suspected the reported person could be the perpetrator.
At 4:20 a.m., the Deputy attempted to stop and question a male individual riding a blue-and-silver mountain bike. The suspect fled on the bicycle into a wooded area, but deputies were able to locate the individual after a brief manhunt.
Deputies reportedly recovered items stolen in several vehicle burglaries as well as the stolen bicycle. Muck, who was on probation for burglary, was transported to the Franklin County Jail.
Authorities say more charges are possible.
