MARION - The 27th Annual Garnati Golf Day fundraiser held on behalf of Williamson County CASA and the Child Advocacy Center is undergoing some changes this spring.

New event organizer, Cody Moake, who works for State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti, said the golf outing has been moved from a Wednesday to a Friday. This year's competition is set for June 2nd. The venue has also been changed, moving from Pine Lakes in Energy to Crab Orchard in Carterville.

Additionally, there will be two flights - a morning session beginning at 8 and afternoon session beginning at 1.

The cost has also been bumped up from $75 to $100 per player and the best-ball scramble has been changed from a six-player-per-team format to four in an effort to speed up the event. A meal and beverages will also be included as part of the cost.

More than $20,000 has been raised in recent years with the proceeds getting split between the two charities.

Moake said the goal this year is to raise $30,000.

"We are hoping to sell out by registering 40 teams in advance - 20 each session," he said. "We will also be selling signs for hole sponsors, plus our usual silent auction and various raffles."

Moake said volunteers from both Williamson County CASA and the Child Advocacy Center will assist in the fundraising process.
