HMC Foundation gala raises more than $38,000
HARRISBURG -- On Oct. 13, the Harrisburg Medical Center Foundation hosted the first of what it intends to be an annual event -- the R. Kay Talley Gala at St. Stephen's on The Hill in Eldorado. Mr. R. Kay Talley was the founder of the Harrisburg Medical Center Foundation and was an invaluable asset to all who knew him. He made it his mission to help Harrisburg Medical Center reach higher levels of excellence in medical care, outreach and education.

Caritas Family Solutions hosts Denim & Diamonds dinner
MARION -- The Second Annual Denim & Diamonds Dinner held Oct. 13 at The Pavilion in Marion attracted the support of several guests, donors and sponsors to benefit more than 500 children in foster care served by Caritas Family Solutions throughout Southern Illinois. Honorary chairs, Glenn and Jo Poshard with the Poshard Foundation for Abused Children, presented Caritas with a $1,000 donation that will help Caritas purchase items needed by children receiving services through the Caritas regional office in Carterville.

Nation's first wheelchair-accessible ballon coming to Lisle's Eyes to the Skies festival
When you visit Lisle's Eyes to the Skies festival this weekend, you're pretty much guaranteed to see hot-air balloons of all shapes and sizes. But there's one balloon that will be on display in Community Park near Route 53 and Short Stteet that's just a little more special. It's called Serena's Song.

Du Quoin Education Foundation's annual dinner this Saturday
The District #300 Educational Foundation will host its 12th annual Foundation Dinner event this Saturday, May 5, starting in the Du Quoin High School Hibbs Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. and concluding with dinner in the DHS Commons after the presentation of scholarships and recognitions.
