Four people were injured in a two-car rear-end collision Monday evening east of Sesser.

The accident occurred on Route 154 at Banister Road, near Sierra Bravo and just outside Sesser city limits, according to Sesser Police Chief Rob Barrett.

Police officers and Sesser Fire & Rescue were called to the scene of the accident at approximately 8:01 p.m.

Four of the six people involved in the crash were treated at the scene for injuries, Barrett said. They were later transported by Cardinal EMS ambulances to the Franklin Hospital in Benton with what Barrett called "non-life-threatening injuries."

Two people refused medical treatment at the accident site, the chief said.

Drivers of the vehicles were identified as Jennifer Norman of Carbondale and Leigh A. Bailey of Ewing.

The Illinois State Police handled investigation of the accident, and no further details were available Tuesday morning.

Route 154 was closed for approximately 30 minutes, Barrett said.
