Prep Baseball: Grant hands Harrisburg first loss of season

All good things must come to an end, even if they are an eight-game winning streak.
The Harrisburg baseball team rallied from a seven-run deficit, only to come up two runs short in a 9-7 loss to Grant Monday afternoon at Jay Thompson Field.
Harrisburg (8-1) spotted Grant a 7-0 lead through the first five and half innings before the Bulldogs went to work, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth, tacking on two more in the seventh in the loss.
Harrisburg had nine hits on the day as Ethan Golish and Luke Miller both had multiple hit days. Golish was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Miller went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Cameron Ande had a team-high two RBI day, going 1-for-4 at the dish with a run scored. Riley King, Dawson Griffith, Braden Burtis and Grant Wilson all had one hit.
Griffith, Burtis, Wilson and Ross Rider all scored one run, while Griffith and Wilson each drove in one run.
On the mound, Harrisburg used four pitchers on the day as Drew Hawkins took the loss. The senior right hander went four innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits, while striking out two and walking two.
Mark Miller, Braden Bergan and Luke Miller all pitched one inning of relief as Mark Miller allowed one hit and one walk, while Bergan scattered three hits and allowing two runs, while striking out one. Luke Miller struck out one and allowed one hit.
Harrisburg was scheduled to play Eldorado on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and will host Hardin County on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, the Bulldogs will welcome Anna-Jonesboro to Jay Thompson Field at 4:30 p.m.
