Surrounded by family and friends, Grace Numi was one of four Pinckneyville High School volleyball players that recently signed National Letters Of Intent to continue their athletic careers.
Numi signed on to play at nearby Rend Lake College, joining teammates Payton Morgan (Wabash Valley), Bella Pasquino (Lincoln Land) and Chloe Yates (Frontier).
Numi's desire to chose Rend Lake was about having the opportunity to stay close to home.
"I picked Rend Lake because it's the smartest option for me and I'm just excited to continue my volleyball career."
Numi acknowledged the difficult process with COVID-19 and how that has complicated things.
"It's been pretty difficult because you can't get recruited because you're not playing games for (coaches) to watch you. It's hard to get things together for coaches to look at."
On the flip side, being signed and knowing where she is going to school has been a blessing for Numi.
It's good to know that I know where I am going to be going to school. I know what the next step is. I've always wanted to play in college and keep it going as long as I could."
