MARION -- The Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois sofball team defeated the Cleveland Comets, 10-5, Monday night, at Rent One Park in Marion.

It marked the final game of the team's inaugural summer season in Marion in partnership with the Southern Illinois Miners and Southern Illinois University.

The Wild have additional games to play this summer as "Team Canada," but will return to Marion next summer as part of a two-year contract agreement and play another National Pro Fastpitch season leading up to the 2020 Olympic games. Canada is presently ranked No. 3 in the world.
