A back and forth see-saw affair went Johnston City's way Friday as the Indians rallied with four runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh to knock off Galatia 13-12 in the season opener for the Bearcats as Galatia High School.
AJ Hankins took the loss for Galatia as he gave up five runs on four hits, while walking two.
Caleb Reed got the start for Galatia and gave up six runs on eight hits, while striking out three and walking two. Klayton Wright relieved Reed and gave up three hits, followed by Hankins. Braxton Lane finished the game, getting the last three outs.
Brendon Mondino and Hankins were both 3-for-4 as Mondino finished with two RBI and Hankins blasted a solo shot in the third inning as Galatia took an 11-8 lead.
Klayton Wright joined a handful of Bearcat players that had one hit, but Wright smacked a three-run home run in the second inning.
Galatia was scheduled to travel to Carrier Mills-Stonefort Tuesday, followed by a home game with Gallatin County Thursday.
