Harrisburg kicked off its baseball season in style, using five pitchers over five innings to shut out Hardin County 11-0 Monday at Jay Thompson Field.
Noah Boon, Connor Phalin, Andrew Bittle, Jack Martin and Isaac Crabb combined to throw a no-hitter, while striking out nine as the Bulldogs are now 1-0 on the season.
Harrisburg head coach said that his team came out with a lot of confidence Monday, adding they seemed loose and did what they had to do to come out with a win.
"The plan was to throw as many guys as we needed one inning each. Those five guys were terrific. We only gave up one base runner and that was in the first inning. Our pitching was strong and for the first time out we swung the bats really well."
At the plate, Harrisburg smacked out seven hits as Javy Beal led the way, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Will Gibbs, Will Holland, Colby Morse, Martin and Boon all had one hit, while Holland and Martin scored three runs a piece. Gibbs scored two runs, while Krayton Morse, Colby Morse and Crabb all scored one run.
Boon had a pair of RBI's on the day for Harrisburg, while Jacob Penrod, Krayton Morse Gibbs and Crabb all knocked in one run.
Harrisburg returns to action Saturday at the Metro East Kickoff Classic, where the Bulldogs are scheduled to play at 9 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. against Coal City and St. Joe.
Monday's game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but the threat of rain pushed it forward.
