Hawks get big road win at Eldorado

A see-saw battle throughout, Gallatin County gained the advantage when they needed it the most.
The Hawks outscored Eldorado 18-14 in the game's final eight minutes to steal a 53-46 road win at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium Friday night, handing Eldorado its first loss of the season.
Eldorado led 12-11 after one quarter of play and took a 25-22 lead into the locker room. In the third quarter, Gallatin County cranked up the offensive scoring, getting seven points from Audie Goebel as the Hawks outscored EHS 13-7.
Robbie Prince had a team-high 16 points for the Hawks (3-1), while Dawson Hish and Goebel each finished with 15 points and Garrett Rushing scored seven points in the win.
Joe Mayberry had a game-high 20 points for Eldorado (5-1) in the loss, while Hunter Sizemore scored 12 points to also finish in double figures for the Eagles. Laddayyea Shewmaker added eight points and Aiden Whitlock scored six.

Massac County 66, Gallatin County 56
A stretch of eight minutes in the second quarter where Gallatin County was outscored 23-4 did in the Hawks in a 10-point 66-56 loss to Massac County Saturday in the nightcap of the Du Quoin Tournament.
Gallatin County jumped out to a 21-18 first quarter lead and then trailed 41-25 at halftime. The Hawks rebounded to outscore Massac County 11-8 in the third quarter and 20-17 in the final eight minutes.
Gallatin County put three players in double figures as Dawson Hish had a team-high 18 points, while Audie Goebel and Garrett Rushing both tacked on 12 for the Hawks.
Connor Kiesecoms scored seven points, while Robbie Prince finished with five points and Lucas Reeder scored two points.
Julian Russell had a game-high 25 points for Massac County as the junior shooting guard knocked down five 3-pointers and went 4-for-5 from the line, while Hayden Lee added 18 points and Marshon Merriel also finished in double figures tacked on 10 points.

Gallatin County 52, Cairo 46
Gallatin County started Saturday with a 52-46 win over Cairo at Du Quoin
Goebel had a team-high 19 points, while Rushing and Hish both finished in double figures with 12 points. Prince scored seven points and Will Henson tacked on two points.
Riko Nelson had a game-high 22 points for the Pilots.
