University of Iowa senior Shawn Rennegarbe has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Sept. 29-30, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly honor of her career.
Rennegarbe carded a 54-hole total of 221 (+5; 79, 73, 69) to take medalist honors for the first time in her career. She fired three birdies on the back nine to register a career-low, 18-hole score of 69 (-3) in the third round. Rennergabe is Iowa's first individual tournament champion since 2015. Her performance also led the Hawkeyes to their first team title since 2015.
The Nashville native is the first Hawkeye golfer to earn Big Ten Golfer of the Week since sophomore Rachel Fujitani won the honor on April 4, 2018.
The Hawkeyes travel to Sammamish, Washington, to participate in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Oct. 9-10.
