MARION -- Morgan Dodd homered and Ivy Smart pitched a two-hit shutout with two strikeouts as the Marion High School softball team blanked Carbondale, 3-0, Tuesday in a South Seven Conference game at the Crisp Sports Complex.
The game was scoreless until the third when Jordan Turner singled, moved up on a sac bunt by Morgan Andrews and scored on an error.
Then in the fifth, Dodd ripped a two-out solo homer that was followed by a single from Hannah Nalley and a double by Keira Hance to make it 3-0.
Marion's records moved to 21-4 overall and 7-2 in the South Seven Conference.
