The Southeastern Illinois College men's basketball team dropped a pair of matches at the Grizzly Tip-Off Classic in West Plains, Mo. over the weekend, a tournament hosted by Missouri State West Plains Community College.

In the opener Friday, the Falcons fell to the host school, 107-70.

Matt Norl paced the SIC offense with 16 points. Keondre Cobb followed with 15 and Winslow Martin added 14.

On Saturday, the Falcons were much more competitive, but lost 93-88 to Faith Prep Academy. Martin's 22 points led SIC. Norl was close behind with 20 points and Marion's Sam Swinford tossed in 12.

"We saw a lot of improvement from one day to the next, but still have to make some serious improvement in certain areas," said SIC first-year head coach Mark Motsinger. "We have an odd situation. No college experience and everyone is new to the college game."

The Falcons return to the hardwood Nov. 13 at home against Earl C. Clements Job Corps and will then take on Shawnee College in a Great Rivers Athletic Conference match, again a home game, on Nov. 15. Both men's games get underway at 7:30 p.m.
