Du Quoin high school senior and three-sport athlete Caleb Vogel signed a letter of intent Monday morning, accepting a scholarship from Southern Illinois University where he will continue his track career.

On top of his success in track and field, Vogel quarterbacked the Indian football team to a quarterfinal playoff appearance and reached the 1000 point milestone (becoming a top-10 scorer in DHS history) his senior season.

But, his success in the high jump was equally impressive, setting a new DHS record in the event with a jump of 6'07", beating out the previous record holder, Monte Kuhnert, by an inch.

Vogel was recently named the DHS senior Athlete of the Year at the Elks' boys' all-sports banquet for his roles on the football, basketball and track team, as well as the William G. Theobald Memorial Award for his success in the classroom.

The scholarship Vogel accepted was both athletic and academic.
