Everett L. Schwarz, 88, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 7 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Century Assisted Living in Carbondale.

Everett worked at the Pinckneyville Garment Factory and the garment industry for 48 years. He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1952 until 1954.

Everett was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Pinckneyville. He enjoyed going to Nashville and Branson to catch the country music shows. Everett especially liked spending time with his family and his dog, "Precious," most of all.

He was born Feb. 3, 1931 in Pinckneyville, the son of Henry and Etta (Bauersachs) Schwarz.

He married Oetta Johnson on Nov. 13, 1954 in Pinckneyville, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville; daughter Debbie (Charlie) Mifflin; son Jim (Sheri Kattenbraker) Schwarz; granddaughter Sarah (Josh) Dean; one great-granddaughter, Emma Dean; one step-grandson, Josh (Bekki) Korando; a step-granddaughter Tiffany (Christopher) Surman; and step-great-grandchildren, Mya and Macy.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glenn, and one sister, who died at birth.

A private memorial for family will be held at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to Holt's Prairie Cemetery, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
