BENTON -- Graveside services for Margaret Ann Deason, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in Masonic-Odd Fellow Cemetery in Benton. She passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, at her home in Richmond, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in First United Methodist Church in McHenry, IL with the Rev. Scott McClellan officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 10011 Main St., in Richmond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 3717 W. Main St., McHenry, IL 60050.

Margaret was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Edwin and Dorothy (Oldham) Ent.

She married Benton native James R. Deason on June 24, 1956, in Lincoln, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2004.

Margaret graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and SIU in 1960, earning her bachelor's degree in education.

She belonged to three book discussion groups, one for over 40 years. She loved reading, gardening and opera.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Deason of Valencia, California; son, Daniel (Dawn) Deason of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; other relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James P. in 1961; and sister, Caroline (Del) Schroyer.
