Donald Lee Nalley of Harrisburg

HARRISBURG -- Donald Lee Nalley, 71, went to meet his Lord at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, in Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with Chad Nalley officiating. Burial will be in New Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Perks to Jasper Richard and Annie Elizabeth (Golden) Nalley. He married the former Linda Schell on Jan. 1, 1966, and she survives.

Mr. Nalley retired from the railroad as a track operator, working for NY Central, Penn Central and finally Conrail.

He had been a longtime resident of Harrisburg and deacon for Baptist Saline Association since 1980.

Mr. Nalley was a home missionary, while volunteering as the food pantry director for 4 C Compassion Center in Harrisburg for 25 years. He also was a Mason and Shriner.

He leaves behind a wife, Linda of 52 years; son and daughter-in-law, Scot and Marita Nalley of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Sheryl Nalley of Pittsburg; granddaughter and future grandson, Kendall Nalley and Russell Weaks; two brothers, Ronnie (Dorothy) Nalley of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Ray (Ginger) Nalley of Golconda; sister. Wanda Hunter of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Nalley; and three nephews.

Mr. Nalley dedicated his life to helping others -- rich, poor, troubled or hungry -- for the past 30 years. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger.

He will be fondly missed by friends and family alike.
