Lyle Julius Winter, 86, of Pinckneyville passed away at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his home.
Lyle was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Pinckneyville, a son to John and Elizabeth (Emling) Winter. On January 3, 1953, he married Debbie Darlene Gale at St. Andrew Catholic Rectory in Murphysboro, and she survives. Lyle was a lifelong farmer of many generations. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, the farm bureau, the ASCS board, the Merry Mixers Square Dancer Club and a 4-H club leader. He was a coon hunter and enjoyed gardening and dancing. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved jig saw puzzles, feeding his birds and playing pinochle.
Survivors include his wife Debbie; four sons, Dennis (Martha) Winter, Dale (Kay) Winter and Lyle G. Shane (Karen) Winter, all of Pinckneyville, and John Randall (Carol) Winter of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy Ann (Robert) Marlow and Donna D. Winter, both of Pinckneyville; one brother, Merle (Shirley) Winter of Pinckneyville; three sisters, Bonita Knight of Du Quoin, Delores Higgerson of Pinckneyville and Joyce (Sam) Stine of Tremonton, Utah; 29 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Janet Winter; and one grandson, Blake Allen Winter.
Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Lyle will be laid to rest in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School, St. Bruno Catholic Church or St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery.
