Lyndell D. Futch of Carrier Mills

CARRIER MILLS -- Lyndell D. Futch, 88, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, in Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Saline County, the son of Roy Futch and Ada (Golliher) Futch.

On Oct. 31, 1957, he married the former Yvonne "Tootie" Roberts, who preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2002.

Lyndell worked for Dairy Brand for over 18 years and later in mine construction and painting.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and faithful member of First Church of God on the Carrier Mills blacktop.

Survivors include his son, Randy (Kim) Futch of Carrier Mills; granddaughter, Kara Lee Futch of Harrisburg; stepgrandson, Ryan Overstreet of Princeton, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Alonzo, Thurman, Roscoe, Gordon and Junior Futch; and sisters, Ruby Owen, Mary Boatright, Loretta Prather and Imogene Futch.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, in First Church of God, located on the Carrier Mills blacktop, with the Rev. Everett Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

The family requests that flowers please be omitted. For those who desire, memorials are the suggested forms of remembrance to First Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the services.

Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.
