June (Carter) Gill of Galatia

GALATIA -- June (Carter) Gill, beloved mother to her children, left this world at 3:07 a.m. April 21, 2017, to be with her Savior. It is surely a joyous reunion in Heaven for her.

June was always full of energy and very outgoing in life. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June also loved her friends, dancing, gardening, yard sales, visiting, traveling, walking, music and singer Vince Gill. She often told people he was her nephew. (He wasn't.)

Survivors include four children, Barbara (Richard) Thompson of Galatia, Cathy (Daryl) Howard of Galatia/Girard, Mike McKinnies of Eldorado and Danny McKinnies of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Julie (Gary) Hathaway of Harco, Bryan Thompson of Carterville, Jodie (Dustin) Young of Auburn, Brad Thompson of Galatia, Derek (Andrea) McKinnies of Eldorado and Dakota McKinnies of Eldorado; 12 great-grandchildren, Garrison, Stanton, Joseph, Riley, William, Bryleigh, Kerrigan, Kennedy, Kenli, Hadleigh, Landon and Draeger; sister, Saundra (Wilkie) Duvall; niece, Phyllis (Barry) Fitch; and nephew, Father Scott Duvall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Zetta (Pemberton) Carter; daughter-in-law, Linda McKinnies; and loving husband, Gene Gill.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with Father Scott Duvall officiating. Burial will be at Tate's Chapel, where she was a member. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the funeral home.
