MARION -- James "Jim" Wisek, 98, of Oak Lawn, formerly of Marion, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Heartland Healthcare in Paxton.

Jim was born May 14, 1918, in Sesser, the son of Peter Paul and Luella Lavada (Wolverton) Wisek.

He married Geneva E. Smith on April 4, 1942, in Jackson, Missouri, and together they shared 40 years of marriage until her death on March 16, 1982.

Jim retired from General Motors.

He was a member of Marion First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Judith Cascone and husband John of Antioch, Sandra Reiner and husband Donald of Oak Lawn and Donna Wisek of Loda; daughter-in-law, Leah Wisek of Alsip; seven grandchildren, Michael Cascone (Nicole) of Fort Myers, Florida. Laura Bowler (David) of Naperville, Carl White of Romeoville, Lucille Booth (Casey) of Osseo, Michigan, Cheryl Heck (Timothy) of Woodridge, Timothy Wisek of Portage, Indiana, and James Wisek of Crest Hill; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Hilda Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva Wisek; son, Jimmy Wisek; and five brothers, Herman, Clarence, Lee, Orville and Paul Wisek.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, April 20, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
