RLC announces 'Sound of Music' cast

Rend Lake College has revealed the cast for its upcoming spring musical production of "The Sound of Music," directed by RLC music professor Sara Alstat-Sanders.

The beloved musical, set in Austria just before the outbreak of World War II, follows the story of the von Trapp family and their escape from Nazi-occupied Austria.

Taking on the iconic role of Maria Rainer will be Olivia Drew, who is sure to enchant audiences with her breathtaking vocals and dynamic stage presence. Joining her on stage will be a talented ensemble of actors and actresses who will bring to life the memorable characters of this timeless classic.

Playing the stern Sister Berthe will be Maggie Stacey, while Dylann Torres will take on the role of the kind-hearted Sister Margaretta. Leslie Cox will portray Mother Abbess, a wise and compassionate leader of the abbey. Audreyana Phillips will play Sister Sophia, one of the sisters in the abbey.

Travis Westbrook will step into the role of the dashing Captain Georg von Trapp, and Heidi Carroll will portray his glamorous love interest, Elsa Schraeder. Greg Baker will play Franz, the strict butler, and Taylor Wilburn will portray Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper. Seyah Schernekau will play the eldest von Trapp daughter, Liesl, while Bryce Wiley will play the oldest son, Friedrich.

Millie Greever will play the mischievous Louisa, and Carson Elliott will play the spirited Kurt. Hannah Smith and Eleanor Parsons will share the role of the inquisitive Brigitta. Annie Emery and Presley Uraski will share the role of the sweet Marta, and Alayna Mayes and Haven Bradley Jones will share the role of the youngest von Trapp, Gretl.

Korben Cox will play Rolf Gruber, the young messenger boy who falls in love with Liesl. Daven Ort will play Max Detweiler, the charming music producer. Charles Howerton will play Herr Zeller, the strict Nazi official. Isaiah Shrum and Imogen Perry will play the Baron and Baroness Elberfeld, and Piper Chambers will play Frau Zeller. Daniel Garavaglia will play the Admiral Von Schreber.

The ensemble cast will feature Adrianna Maxwell, Jayme Soldan, Whitlee Sheffer, Isla Plemons, Daniel Garavaglia, Logan Smith and Isaiah Shrum.

The Rend Lake College production of "The Sound of Music" promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring talented performers. The musical will run from March 30 to April 2 at the RLC Theater in Ina. Tickets go on sale Feb. 27.
