A Benton business has taken a "clean-up" idea and turned it into a "let's help" promotion.

Terminix of Benton received a message from their corporate office to hold a "clean-up, spruce-up" day, and the idea was quickly turned into a fundraiser for the Benton Ministerial Alliance. Eric Haney, branch manager for Terminix in Benton, said the opportunity to help the local food pantry was too good to pass up.

"Corporate wanted us to use the time to spiff-up the Terminix property, but I wanted to do more," Haney said. "We held an area-wide car wash to raise money and we also served lunch to several patrons. The opportunity to help the Benton-area community was the sole purpose of our efforts, and we are very proud to be able to present a check for $561."

The Benton Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry serves meals for area children and low-income families. Several area students depend on nutritional help from the program. Haney said he is proud of his community and feels it a privilege to help with the food pantry.

Terminix is located at 141 Industrial Park Rd. in Benton.
