MARION -- The Marion Police Department is getting ahead of the annual Halloween celebration with its Spooktacular event set from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Rent One Park.

Police Chief David Fitts told the Marion City Council on Monday night that Spooktacular is a free event, with food, candy and entertainment in a family-friendly environment, no matter what the weather.

"Put on your craziest costumes, and come join us," says the Marion Police Department's Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the traditional Halloween trick-or-treat hours in Marion are set for Halloween night (Thursday, Oct. 31) from 5 to 8 p.m.
