The Benton Zoning and Planning Commission is currently taking nominations for the very first "Spotlight Award".

The monthly award will recognize one residence and one business that displays an exceptionally well-kept property, including improvements or the addition of decorations. As part of the award, the Zoning and Planning Commission would like to place a 2'x3' sign, at the property owner's discretion, to publicly recognize their efforts.

The commission strongly feels that these citizens should be recognized for their community spirit and hard work.

The vote will be taken during the Zoning and Planning Commission's regular business meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. City employees, officials, or commission members are not eligible for the award. All other nominations will be given equal weight by the commission.

Nomination forms can be picked up and returned at the Benton City Hall during regular business hours on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The deadline for nominations will be the first Monday of the month.

The first award was announced at the Zoning and Planning Commission meeting on September 4.
