MARION -- The line was long and the parking lot full at the Marion Kroger store on Saturday as the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile dropped by for a visit.

For Marion third-grader Trayvon Marshall, it was a check off his bucket list.

"I've always wanted to see one," he said. "I also want to see the swimming pool car and the motorcycle that looks like a burger."

Skokie native Anthony D'Souza and Dorothy Spratlin of Atlanta, Georgia, are the team that brought the famous vehicle to Marion.

"We've been pretty much all over the country," said D'Souza, "but primarily we are in the south."

Spratlin said she is enjoying the unique job. "This is my second month," she said. "It's a lot of fun."

D'Souza agreed. "There's never a dull day with the Wienermobile," he said with a grin. "It's not every day you see a guy driving a 27-foot hot dog to your store."

And yes … they can both sing the Oscar Mayer hot dog song.
