MARION -- Candidates competing for Miss Illinois and Outstanding Teen Illinois gathered Wednesday for an opening ceremony conducted at the Marion city pavilion.

The group of young women was welcomed by Ashley Hatfield, executive director of Miss Illinois Scholarship Organization. Hatfield is an Anna native. Also greeting the contestants was 2018 Miss Illinois Grace Khachaturian of Champaign.

The Outstanding Teen competition is set for Friday evening, while the Miss Illinois competition is set for Saturday evening.

Tickets range from $25 to $35 with performances starting each evening at 7. Doors open at 6. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the box office of the Marion Cultural and Civic Center at 618 997 4030 or visit www.marionccc.com.
