Saucy & smoky Marion Main Street cooks up some tasty ribs

The weather was nice and the turnout was good for the 6th Annual Marion Main Street Julie Ross Memorial Rib Cookoff last Saturday in downtown Marion. According to Marion Main Street spokesperson Meredith Ashe, the event gets bigger every year. "Six years ago, we only had six teams enter the competition, and now this year, we have 20 teams trying to win one of the two trophies we give out."

Members of the Smokin K's BBQ team received a round of applause as members approached the stage to accept the People's Choice trophy Saturday at the 6th Annual Marion Main Street Julie Ross Memorial Rib Cookoff in downtown Marion. The other trophy was in the judged portion of the competition and it was won by the Marion Campground team for its ribs.
