Joshua Michael Slack, 35, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

He was born to Bruce and Debbie (nee Baggett) Slack on Dec. 2, 1983 in Chester.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois.

Josh enjoyed camping and fishing. He was always the first to help a family member or friend.

He is survived by his father, Bruce (Christy) Slack, of Portageville, Missouri; his mother, Debbie Slack, of Chester; two sisters, Julie (Frank) Burkman of McGee, Missouri and Karen (Garrie) Zahner of Farmington, Missouri; one brother, Caleb Slack of Portageville, Missouri; his grandmother, Elinor Baggett of Chester; 10 nieces and nephews, Makensey, Dalton, Brent, Blake, Bailey, Ciara, Lexi, Elizabeth, Jake and Jesse; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Baggett; his grandparents Victor and Frieda Slack; and one cousin, Chad Unterreiner.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, officiated by the Rev. Justin Massey. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, before the service, all at Pechacek Funeral Homes.
