April 3 was National Volunteer Day, and Benton Grade School recognized five volunteer "Grandmas" who work with K-4 students through the One Hope United Foster Grandparent Program.

The ladies work at the school from two to as many as five days per week, assisting students with letters, sounds and numbers. The Grandmas also listen to students read and help with fluency and comprehension development. These Grandmas work hard to assist teachers by providing additional support for the students.

The Grandmas were recognized and presented with corsages to wear proudly displaying their commitment to education.
