An IDNR Conservation Police vehicle sustained minor damage Monday night following an incident on Pyramid State property.
Perry County deputies responded around 8:27 p.m. Nov. 27 to Leopard Road and learned the vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Daniel E. Lewis of Du Quoin, was backing down a lane in the dark when the right tires went into a large hole.
Lewis made a maneuver to the left to get out, causing the vehicle to be on the left side of the lane. Lewis attempted to recenter the vehicle in the lane, causing the front driver's side to collide with the tip of an old mine gate.
The collision caused a large scratch and dent on the vehicle.
Lewis was not injured.
