One hurt after concrete truck overturns

A Benton man sustained major injuries Wednesday afternoon after the concrete truck he was driving overturned south of Du Quoin.
The Illinois State Police report that Chase A. Neitzel, 33, was driving a 2007 Peterbilt concrete truck loaded with concrete around 12:05 p.m. June 21 at Brookside south of Du Quoin when the left front steer tire reportedly failed.
Authorities say the tire failure caused the Peterbilt to steer left, cross the northbound lane of traffic and travel off the roadway to the left. The Peterbilt struck the east ditch and overturned, coming to final rest on its passenger side against a tree.
Police cay no charges are pending, but Neitzel was flown to a regional hospital for treatment of his injuries.
