Five candidates for sheriff as primary filing deadline passes

The deadline came to pass on Monday for the March 18, 2014 primary election.
Those filings show five candidates for Perry County Sheriff. All other incumbents are unopposed.
Here are the filings:
For County Clerk- Josh Gross (democrat) 303 north Washington St Du Quoin IL 62832
For County Treasurer – Bill Taylor (democrat) 1144 Sourgum Rd. Du Quoin IL 62832
For County Commissioner – Jim Epplin (democrat) 5324 State Route 152. Pinckneyville, IL 62274
For Sherriff – Dennis Cole (democrat) 611 E Olive St Du Quoin IL 62832
Keith Kellerman (democrat) 5837 Misty Rd. Pinckneyville IL 62274
Jerry Speers (democrat) 1405 Old Du Quoin Rd. Du Quoin IL 62832
Steve Bareis (republican) 9695 Kimmel Rd. Du Quoin IL 62832
Gale Reidelberger (republican) 5799 White Walnut Rd. Pinckneyville IL 62274
Perry County will elect a county clerk, treasurer, and sheriff all for four-year terms. One County Commissioner seat (the seat currently held by Jim Epplin) is also up for election to a six-year term in 2014.
Individuals had to file a statement of candidacy, petition signatures from registered voters of their political party and other documents in order to become a candidate, County Clerk Josh Gross said.
Other officials to be elected in 2014 include state representatives in the 115th and 116th districts, a representative in Congress in the 12th congressional district, one U.S. senator, comptroller, treasurer, secretary of state, attorney general, lieutenant governor and governor. In addition, precinct committeemen will be elected in the March primary.
Candidates nominated in the Primary will advance to the General Election to be held November 6, 2014.
