George G. Fitzpatrick, 77, of Harrisburg was reunited with his son, Michael, daughter, Loni, and the Lord at 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.


Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Reed Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Gaylon Stewart. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Reed Funeral Chapel.

George was born on Sept. 7, 1932, in Benton to the late Charles and Dealie Fitzpatrick. He was borh the fourth child of 17.


He was a kind and compassionate man who met few strangers. He loved deeply and throughout life's many trials, always managed to find something positive. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and sharing his many wisdoms of life. He never failed to provide the right words and the right amount of encouragement for any situation.


George was a retired coal miner and carpenter. He loved working outdoors and could outwork even the youngest of men.


On March 17, 1951, George married Louise Pullum in Benton. Together they were blessed with four children, Michael Eugene, Terry Lee, Sandra Lynn and Loni Sue; three grandchildren, Theresa Ann, Dana Louise and Robert Gale; seven great-grandchildren, Dustin, Taylor, Micaela, Hayley, Brenden, Trenton and Colin; two sons-in-law, David Dean and Bill Page.


On Oct. 22, 1994, George married Linda Ward, and two children, Ronald and Regina, and seven grandchildren, Allison, Zachary, Hailey, Cody, Callie, Garrett and John, and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Tyler and Trevor; son-in-law, Gilbert Miller, and daughter-in-law, Mary Ward, were added to the family.


George leaves 12 siblings, Bill (Rose Mary), Etta Lance, Jack (Sonia), Martha Sweet, Charles, Bob (Brenda), Donnie (Barb), Larry "Dutch"?(Robin), Rose (Harvey) Bushue, John (Pam), Rick (Mary) and David (Nancy); one sister-in-law, Joyce Fitzpatrick Hill, Charlie Veale and many special nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by parents; two infant brothers; brother, Dennis; sister, Ramona Powell; three brothers-in-law, Charles Lance, John Sweet and Donald Powell; his son, Michael Eugene; and daughter, Loni Sue Page.


George was a cherished father, grandfather, husband and brother who will be deeply missed and forever loved by all.
