The Benton Consolidated High School Board of Education adopted a tentative deficit budget Tuesday night for the 2009 school year.
District superintendent Kelly Stewart told the board she anticipated revenues to total $6,859,017 for the upcoming school year. Expenditure were tabbed at just over $7 million, a deficit of around $168,822.
The largest expenditures will be in the education fund, which is used to pay teacher salaries and most other day to day expenses.
The district has a balance on hand June 30 of $1,569,364 with this year's deficit reducing that total to just over $1.4 by June 30, 2009.
In other business, the board:
• Hired Lisa Moore as pom-pon coach and her daughters, Lindsay and Lauren, as volunteer coaches.
• Hired Andy Davis as assistant baseball coach and Larry Durham, Bobby Blondi and Ryan Miller as volunteer assistants.
• Hired Johnathan Neace as a volunteer football coach and accepted the resignaton of Don Montgomery as an assistant coach.
The board also established a criteria for retiring athletic jerseys and numbers of BCHS athletes.
An application must be filled out by a member of the coaching staff making the recommendation. The nomination must then be approved by a committee and the athletic director before getting board approval.
The athlete in question must also meet certain requirements prior to final approval.
