SAFE HOUSE

It's sad when an actor as great as Denzel Washington continues to waste his talents on generic drivel like this in which he plays a renegade CIA agent on the run (Jason Bourne style) from his handlers. But what can you do when being the next Nic Cage means more to him than striving for quality. Ryan Reynolds costars.

THE VOW

The ubiquitous Channing Tatum stars in what seems like his 10th film of the year, playing a newlywed whose wife (Rachel McAdams) suffers a head injury that wipes her memory clean. This, of course, means he must get her to fall in love with him all over again. Just a hunch, but I'm betting she does.

JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND

For the dozen or so people craving a sequel to 2008's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" comes this 3-D tale furthering the adventures of Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson), who is joined by his stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) in exploring the "mysterious island" of the title. Wake me when it's over.

W.E.

The only person who had a worse Super Bowl than Tom Brady was Madonna, who returns to inflict more pain as the co-writer and director of this convoluted biopic about Royal menace Wallis Warfield Simpson (Andrea Riseborough), who history blames for ending the reign of King Edward VIII.

STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 -- THE PHANTOM MENACE 3-D

George Lucas makes a money grab by re-releasing his worst Star Wars flick in tacky tacked-on 3-D. Yeah, like Jar Jar Binks and Natalie Portman's Amidala will be any less annoying in 3-D. May the force of cash be with it.
