Three new faces on Harrisburg City Council
Harrisburg City Council experienced a shake up in the Consolidated Election with only one incumbent candidate -- John McPeek -- being re-elected.

Early voting next Tuesday from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. at Du Quoin City Hall
Voters in Perry County have several opportunities to cast their votes early. Between now and Monday, April 6 you can cast your votes early week days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the offices of County Clerk Josh Gross. The office will also be open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 4 for early voting. The county clerk’s office will set up a polling place at Du Quoin City Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.. next Tuesday, March 31 so you can your vote early, as well.

Pinckneyville candidates air hopes & concerns
The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum for those running for the City Commissioner in the April 7 municipal election. Pinckneyville Community High School Principal Dustin Foutch served as the moderator and student Jacob Miller was the timer. Each candidate was given two minutes to introduce themselves to the small crowd in attendance. Those present were Ruben Davis- candidate for Commissioner of Public Property, Joe Holder- candidate for Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements, Sammy Peradotta- candidate for Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements, James Shillinger- candidate for Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, Robert Spencer- candidate for Mayor, David Stone- incumbent candidate for Commissioner of Public Property and Fran Thomas- candidate for Mayor.

Du Quoin Election Meet and Greet at the Elks Wednesday
Du Quoin Elks exalted ruler Craig Smith Tuesday hosted a Meet and Greet for Du Quoin mayoral, council and school board candidates. Voters had a chance to meet the candidates and discuss the issues. It was a very cordial reception. Mayoral candidate Guy Alongi is pictured during a lighter moment in the conversation with Smith and incumbent Mayor Rex Duncan. Also in attendance were Perry County Clerk Josh Gross and his elections staff member Tory Woods who gave residents a chance to register to vote. They are pictured talking to Joseph Fronek, son of the late commissioner and Fire Chief Rich Fronek.

The General Election is April 7. On the ballot are candidates for municipalities, school boards, Southeastern Illinois College Board, park districts and library districts.

Du Quoin candidate Angie Roach says she won't take a paycheck if elected on April 7
Du Quoin City Council commissioner candidate Angie Roach said today that if elected to the council on April 7, “I will NOT take any pay for the office due to the lack of funds for the City of Du Quoin.” Roach is a former council member and served as street commissioner.

Du Quoin candidate meet & greet March 18 at the Du Quoin Elks
The Du Quoin Elks Club will host a pre-election meet and greet with candidates seeking election to the Du Quoin city council on April 7. Exalted ruler Craig Smith said the reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be no forum or debate, but local voters will have a chance to talk to the candidates.
