Legion Baseball: Post 167 goes 2-3 at Battle Of Omaha

The Harrisburg Sons Of American Legion baseball team went 2-3 in its trip to Omaha, Nebraska, playing in the Battle Of Omaha.
Post 167 began the tournament with back-to-back wins, beating New Ulm Gold 6-1 and knocking off Peitzmeier Demolition 4-3.
From there, Harrisburg concluded the tournament with three losses, falling to Wichita Aeros 8-0, KS Senators 3-2 and fell to Elk 4-3.
In the win over New Ulm, Post 167 scored six runs on four hits as Gavin Smith, Cam Ande, Logan Croley and Blake Stacey all had one hit. Croley scored two runs, while Jack Ford, Ethan Golish, Smith and Ande all scored one run. Stacey had a team-high two RBI, while Smith, Ande and Croley finished with one.
Jackson Pittman got the win on the mound, pitching six strong innings, giving up one run (unearned) on five hits, while striking out seven.
In the victory against Peitzmeier Demolition, Harrisburg scored three runs in the third and added a run in the seventh in holding off the Omaha team.
Noah Fraliey and Chance Moscardelli combined for the win as Frailey went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking two. Moscardelli went four innings, striking out six with two walks and allowed one run on six hits.
At the dish, Ford paced the offense, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Braden Burtis, Ande and Moscardelli all had one hit with Ande and Moscardelli driving in runs. Ande, Ford, Burtis and Stacey all scored one run.
After being shut out by Wichita, Harrisburg lost in walk-off fashion against the Senators after a single on a 0-1 count scored two runs.
Noah Arnold toed the rubber for Post 167, going six and a third, striking out one.
Harrisburg collected seven hits on the day as Ande and Golish each had multiple hit days for Post 167.
In the loss against Elk, Harrisburg rallied from two down and scored two in the top of the seventh, grabbing a 3-2 lead, but Elk responded with a run in the bottom of the frame and then won with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
Post 167 had five hits as Burtis, Croley and Golish each had doubles. Ande and Stacey came up with the other two hits.
Golish and Croley each drove in one run, while Burtis, Golish and Stacey each scored a run.
Harrisburg used three pitchers in the loss as Drew Hawkins got the start and went two innings. Sam Endres worked four innings, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and Smith pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
Harrisburg returns to the diamond Friday, playing host to Lyon Co. Ky., at Jay Thompson Field, starting at 6 p.m.
