Benton went 2-2 last week, picking up a pair of wins over West Frankfort, while falling to Du Quoin and Murphysboro.
Last Tuesday, the Rangers knocked off West Frankfort 4-0 behind a complete game performance from Reid Baumgarte.
Baumgarte went the distance, striking out 11 and scattering just three hits on the win.
At the plate, Benton had seven hits on the as Asher Wynat paced the offense, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tyler Chamness, Jacob Kinsman, Chase Thomas and Mason Tieffel all had one hit. Kinsman had a team-high three RBI and a run scored, while Chamness and Tieffel also scored one run.
Benton followed that up with a 9-8 loss to Du Quoin in eight innings, where the Rangers used four pitchers as Wyant took the loss.
Waynt worked one inning and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, while Seth Tate came on in relief, working six innings and allowing seven runs (one earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Grant Owens pitched one inning, striking out three.
Chamness finished up a day, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, while Isaac Billington, Tate and Kinsman each had two-hit performances. Kinsman drove in three runs, while scoring one.
Evan Munoz also finished with three RBI, having a hit, as did, Tieffel.
On Thursday, Benton was shut out by 7-0 by Murphysboro and the Rangers capped off the week with a 5-2 win over West Frankfort.
Baumgarte, Chamness, Kinsman, Tieffel and Tate all had one hit as Kinsman drove in two runs and scored one run. Tieffel had an RBI, while Baumgarte, Chamness, Billington and Tieffel all scored one run.
Tieffel took the win, going the distance and allowing two runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking three.
Benton was scheduled to travel to Hardin County Tuesday and will play Carterville at home Friday, followed by a trip to Goreville Saturday in an 11:30 a.m. game.
