Tony Keene was third at Saturday's Vandalia Sectional as the Harrisburg sophomore lost to Auburn's Anthony Ruzic in the semifinals of the 113-pound weight class.
Keene will now represent Harrisburg and the Bulldogs as this weekend's IHSA State Tournament at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
In the third place bracket, Keene beat Vandalia's Sophie Bowers.
Keene (37-2) started his day with a bye and then beat Bowers in the quarterfinals via pin fall. Keene then went up against Ruzic, losing by pin fall.
Bryant Lester (25-10) started his day with a pin fall victory over Latham's Allen Walker. Lester then got a quick win, finishing off Roxana's Hunter Bailey in 38 seconds, before losing to Unity's Nick Nosler.
In the consolation bracket, Lester lost to Taylorville's William Blue.
Brendan Hicks (24-18) suffered a first-round loss to Pittsfield's Tucker Cook and then lost to Lawrenceville's Nathan Blackwell.
