Prep Girls Hoops: Benton picks up pair of wins before Christmas

Benton kept its unbeaten streak in SIRR Ohio play alive with a 41-23 win over Massac County last week.
In the win, Ensley Tedeschi and Braelyn Miler both scored in double figures as Tedeschi led the charge with 17 points and Miller flipped in 14 points.
Other scorers for Benton included Addi Kruger and Kylie Cockrum, who both finished with four points. Jacey Eubanks tossed in two points.
Benton 28, Pinckneyville 26
After being held scoreless in the first quarter, Benton regrouped to pull even with Pinckneyville at half and outscored the Panthers 9-6 in the third quarter to pick up a 28-26 non-conference victory late last week.
Ensley Tedeschi was the lone Rangerette in double figures, putting up 15 points, while Addi Krueger threw in three points.
Jacey Eubanks, Malia Webb, Kylie Cockrum, Ryleigh Bates and Braelyn Miller all had two points for Benton.
Pinckneyville grabbed a 7-0 first quarter lead, but Benton outscored the Panthers 12-7 to tie the game at 12-all at the half. In the third quarter, Benton used a 9-6 run to take a 21-18 lead into the final eight minutes.
Benton begins play in the Rangerette Christmas Classic Monday against Meridian at 3 p.m.
A total of 16 teams will take part in the three-day tournament that begins at 9 a.m. at Rich Herrin Gymnasium and concludes with the championship game on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
