Prep Cross Country: Running Rangers finish seventh at IHSA state meet

Gavin Genisio led Benton to a seventh place finish over the weekend at the IHSA Class 1A state tournament as the Ranger sophomore was sixth overall.
Genisio turned in a time of 14:46.97 and was just behind Pinckneyville's Isaac Teel, who took fifth overall with a time of 14:45.08.
Paxton's Ryder James' was the overall champion in Class 1A, turning in a time of 14:16.89.
Benton's Chase Owens was 49th overall with a time of 16:03.82, capping off his senior season in style.
Gabe McLain was 75th overal with a time of 16:20.77, while sophomore Mason Tieffel was 93rd overall with a time of 16:27.68. Cole Buchanan had a time of 16:50.95 for a 142nd place finish, Owen Sanders had a time of 17:29.68 and Benton freshman Parker Johnson had a time of 18:32.16.
