After picking up a pair of wins to start the season, the John A. Logan men's basketball team jumped up three spots to No. 3 in this week's NJCAA Division 1 basketball poll.
The Volunteers (2-0) opened the year ranked No. 6 in the country and took down No. 5 Mineral Area 80-65 I the season opener. On Saturday night, JALC beat Three Rivers Community College 76-66.
Salt Lake, Utah (2-0) took the No. 1 spot in this week's poll, followed by South Plains, Texas at No. 2.
JALC is averaging 78 points per game to stat the year and is shooting 46% from the field, 32% from 3-point range and 76% from the free throw line. The Vols are pulling down 43 rebounds per game and handing out 13 assists.
In addition, JALC has two players averaging double figures to start the season as Bradley transfer Sean East leads the way with 21 points a night, seven rebounds and six assists. Tennessee Tech transfer Tujautae Williams is averaging 12 points per game and eight rebounds.
The Vols return to action this weekend in Vincennes, Ind., playing two games in the McDonalds Classic, starting with Northeast Mississippi Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. On Saturday, JALC plays East Mississippi.
