Golf Roundup: Marion girls finish third at Belleville West Invitational

Sarah Capel, Baylee Kelley and Grace Roper all finished in the top 10 individually, helping the Marion girls' golf team to a third place finish at Friday's Belleville West Invitational.
Capel was third overall after shooting a 76, while Kelley scored a seventh place finish, firing an 80 and Roper wasn't far behind with an 81 and an eighth place performance.
The Wildcats shot a 338, while Edwardsville was second with a 334, while defending Southwestern Conference champion O'Fallon took first, shooting a 330. Waterloo (339) and Alton (370) rounded out the top five in the 14-team field.
Kelley, Capel lead Wildcats at FCCC
Baylee Kelley and Sara Capel each shot a 39 as the duo combined to take home co-medalist honors in Thursday's triangular match at Franklin Country Country Club,
Marion shot a 166, wile West Frankfort finished with a 196 and Hamilton County added a 231.
Additionally for Marion, Grace Roper carded a 40 and Avery Cornett rounded out the team scoring with a 50. Zoey Danner shot a 60, while Emma Pyatt added a 61 for the Wildcats.
Marion boys win at Hickory Ridge
Marion shot a 166, beating out West Frankfort (182) and Carbondale in a triangular at Hickory Ridge Golf Course Thursday afternoon.
Carbondale's Ian Davis took medalist honors with a 36, while Marion's low score came from Peyton Danner and Karsten Stotlar, as the two fired a pair of 39's.
Also adding to the Wildcats' team score was Chase Austin, who finished with aa 42 and Hunter Henry, who added a 46. Zach Plant shot a 49, while Jack Harre finished with a 53.
