CARBONDALE -- The Marion Wildcats advanced to the Class 3A Regional Championship game, defeating Waterloo 3-0 in the semifinal game at Itchy Jones Stadium on the SIU-S campus on Friday.

Wildcats catcher Ryan Trokey put the first run on the board in the second inning, scampering home after a dropped third strike allowed Nehemiah Goodman head for first. Then Gavin Plant nailed an RBI hit that scored Trace Bittle.

Trevor Jackson tripled to lead off the fourth inning, scoring on Karsten Stotlar's RBI single.

The Wildcats were scheduled to face Mt. Vernon on Monday in the title game.
