Bulldogs rally to beat Herrin

After trailing by 12 at halftime, Harrisburg made a furious second half rally, getting a game-high 26 points from Michael Godsey, including 14 in the third quarter to earn a 64-55 win over Herrin SIRR Ohio action Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs, who shot 12-of-14 from the foul line, went 8-of-9 in the fourth quarter, outscoring Herrin 18-6 in the comeback victory.
Chrs Allen came off the bench and tacked on 12 points to also finish in double figures for the Bulldogs.
Andrew Bittle, who netted nine points for Harrisburg, had a stretch of six straight made free throws in the fourth quarter. Tevin Godsey scored six points, all coming in that critical four quarter for Harrisburg, while Nate Lawrence threw in five points and Jessie Lawler finished with four points. Ben Brombaugh had a first quarter bucket for two points.
Herrin jumped out to a 17-18 lead and outscored Harrisburg 21-10 in the second quarter to build a 39-27 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs held the Tigers to 10 points and trimmed to lead to three at 49-46.
Billy Braid led Herrin in scoring with 17 points, while Mayer also scored in double figures, adding 16 points for the Tigers.
Harrisburg is scheduled to host West Frankfort on Friday, followed by a game at Davenport Gymnasium against Anna-Jonesboro on Saturday.
