John A. Logan defeated Southwest Illinois 68-63 Monday night to stay on top in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference with a 3-0 record.
The Volunteers improved to 5-1 overall and are now ranked sixth nationally heading into Wednesday night's game at No. 8 Vincennes.
Jamarion Sharp, the Vols' 7-foot-3 center, led Logan with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He added eight blocks and continues to lead the nation at 6.5 blocks per game.
Mario McKinney, ranked second nationally in scoring with 26.4 points per game, was held to 16 points.
